Gene C. Taylor of Bend, Oregon, passed away peacefully on 1 August 2013, at his home in Bend, Oregon. He was 90 years-old.

Gene was born 15 June 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to C.P. and Adelaide (Lancaster) Taylor.  He attended public schools in Delaware County and was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and La Salle University.  Gene completed Graduate Studies in Economics at Golden State University in San Francisco.

During World War II, Gene served as Lead Bombardier with the 778th Squadron, 464th Bombardment Group in the Fifteenth Air Force in Italy.  He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals, and the Presidential Unit Citation.  He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War and commanded a unit in the Continental Air Command. Gene retired from the California National Guard as a Medical Service Corp Officer.

At the time of his retirement in 1988, Gene was Executive Director of the Mid-Peninsula Medical Group comprised of 300 physicians in San Mateo, California.

A devoted and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Gene is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Taylor of Bend, Ore.; sons Paul (wife Sharon) Taylor of Roseville, Calif. and Richard Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother Harry and sister Ginny.

Gene was preceded in death by his youngest son, Mark Taylor, two sisters, a brother, and his parents.

Gene suggested donations be made to the Salvation Army.  It was his wish that no services be held.
