John "Jack" F. Pruitt, Jr., age 85, of Wyoming, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, 31 December 2008.  He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Kristen Hager; sons, John F. Pruitt, III (Elizabeth), Eric J. Pruitt, David K. Pruitt; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren; his dear best friend, Ruby Gilewski; close family members, Barbara, Kathy, Chris and Wanda; special grandchildren, Matthew Wheeler, Samantha Hannum and many others who called him Grandpa or Gramps.

Jack owned and operated Pruitt's Packing Services for over 35 years.  He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the 464th Bombardment Group (H) as a member of the 776th Squadron.  He was a prisoner of war in Yugoslavia.

Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter and will be deeply missed by his special fishing buddy Michael Sorenson.  He lived life to the fullest and was a truly unforgettable character.  Jack will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Funeral services were held on Mon., 5 January 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Chapel.  The family received friends on Sunday.  Those desiring may make memorial contributions to PAACT, Ducks Unlimited or the Grand Rapids Home for the Vets Grotto Park Project in memory of Jack. Arrangements were made by Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service.
