MIDDLETON, WISCONSIN – Daniel E. Colvin, Sr., age, 97, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017, in Middleton.  He was born on March 10, 1920 in Gillette, WY to Marc J. and Ruth (Kircher) Colvin.  He grew up in Casper, WY and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1938.  He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1939 and rose to the rank of Captain.  Dan served as communications officer for the 464th Bomb Group, stationed in Pantanella, Italy.

After the war, he met and married Jean J. Miller of Middleton.  They lived in Phoenix, AZ, where their son Daniel Jr., was born, before moving to Middleton in 1949, so that Dan Sr. could attend the School of Engineering at his wife’s alma mater, UW.  He was hired by Bell Telephone Laboratories, where he worked his entire career, as an electrical engineer, in both NYC and Columbus, OH.  Dan retired in 1982, at which time they moved back to Middleton.  Jean passed away in 1998, after more than 50 years of marriage.  He then married Jean Poirot, his one-time high school sweetheart.  They enjoyed 12 years of marriage before Jean’s passing.  Dan is survived by his son, Daniel (Patricia) Colvin of Green Bay; three grandsons, Scott (Arodi) Colvin of Raleigh, NC, Jeffrey (Wallene) Colvin of Wilmette, IL, Bradley (Danessa) Colvin of Appleton; six great-grandchildren, Madrid, Sofia, Joel, Alaina, Morgan and Vincent Colvin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joann Colvin of Albuquerque, NM and several nieces and nephews.  Dan was preceded in death by both wives, his parents, two brothers, Marc J and William Colvin, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eldon and Audrey Miller and a niece and nephew.
